~FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS~

Here we have compiled a list of the questions we receive regularly.
If you don't see your question, please send us an Email!

Trip Details

#1- Is there enough time for our trip so I won't miss my ship?
Due to the proximity of the Belize Barrier Reef we have plenty of time for our trips.  It takes about 4-5 hours and during the day while we are on the reef, we can actually see the tops of the cruise ships over the mangrove cayes that run parallel to the reef.  So yes, there is plenty of time, and in fact in our 10+ years of working with cruise ship passengers, no one has ever missed their boat and we guarantee you will not!

We realize that the limiting factor for cruise ship passengers is time, so our trips are designed to make the most of the few hours you have in Belize.  We monitor your ship's time in port to ensure that you are back to catch your last tender. It is our hope that you will really enjoy your one day with us and that you will come back for a week!
#2 - Is there enough time to dive the Blue Hole?
While we like to be positive and say "Yes, we would have enough time to run out there, do a quick dive and head back."  The truth is the trip takes about 2 1/2 hours each way and we would need at least 10 persons to pay $225 each plus there is a $30 park fee for visiting the Blue Hole and $10 for Half Moon Caye.  The trip is therefore costly and by limiting yourself to the Blue Hole you are really missing other important parts of this trip, namely the Half Moon Caye Wall dive and Long Caye Wall dive.  But if course if money is no object and this is something you must do while you are in Belize for the day you'll need to provide proof that you are an experienced diver and be willing to foot the bill for the entire trip if it is only you that is booking the trip.  We always recommend try out Barrier Reef dive sites, and we hope that you will enjoy these enough and our personalized service that you'll return for a week where diving the Blue Hole will only be one of the many highlights of your trip!
# 3 - What if the weather is bad, will you cancel the trip?
Very rarely have we had to cancel a trip due to weather conditions.  If the weather is that bad
usually the ship does not come into port.  If it is VERY windy and rainy or if a hurricane is looming
on the horizon then we will cancel a trip.  If the weather looks iffy and you have a trip confirmed
with us, we ask that you come to our dive shop at the scheduled time and check in.  Often it will rain in the early morning and clear-up and so when it does we head out.  If it is raining lightly most of our divers do not mind getting wet since where they are coming from is about 50 degrees cooler!
#4 - What's for lunch?
Your full day trip includes a snack midday and can be a chicken wrap or turkey sandwich with chips and cookies.   If you are a vegetarian we can offer cheese of veggies only.  What we serve depends on what is available in Belize.   We also try to find the sweetest pineapple to enjoy after the dives/snorkels.  After you book the trip we ask about dietary restrictions so we can plan in advance.
#5 - Are you located near where the cruise ships are?
Yes we are less than one block from the cruise terminal where you arrive.  It is about a 10 minute walk.  Once the trip is confirmed we will email you a confirmation sheet with map and directions to our shop.
#6 - Can you pick us up at the cruise ship?
Since 9/11 we have been unable to pick up at the ship.  We can return you to the cruise terminal where you arrive at the end of the day saving you the walk back.

Payments & Refunds

#1 - Will you refund our payment if the ship does not come into port?
For whatever reason if your ship does not come into port the week you are scheduled to be on it, then your payment will be refunded in full.

#2 - What if we book a trip with you and you don't get enough people?
Sea Sports Belize will only confirm a trip if we have enough inquiries.  Once you have paid for the trip it is confirmed and would only be cancelled due to poor weather, or if your ship does not come into port.

#3 - To confirm a trip do I need to make payment in full?
Yes, since we take out small groups, can fill up quickly and become "sold out" we do require a 50% payment to book and balance due within 30 days of the trip, details of which our outlined in our Booking/Cancellation Policy.

#4 - How many people do I need to pay for if we would like to book a private charter?
We normally take no more than 8 persons on our dive trips and up to 12 on our snorkeling trips.  If you would like a private charter you will need to make payment for the maximum number of persons.

#5 - If I book a private charter and some people in my group are not able to make it, can I get a refund?
When a private charter is booked we will turn away business and lose income.  If on the day you arrive some people in your group do not make it then we can open up the available space to last minute walk-in business.  If we are able to sell the space to walk-ins then we would be able to issue you a refund.  Of course at this point your trip will no longer be private.
#6 - Will you offer refund if I get sick and cannot make the trip?
We do not offer refunds for illness and recommend that you purchase trip insurance for your vacation.

#7 - Can you recommend a travel insurance provider?
Yes, please follow the link to Access America.
